At Polytex, “Building national products with experience” is one of our pillars and motivates us to continue entering new markets such as geotextiles.

A nonwoven geotextile is a type of geosynthetic characterized by being flat, permeable and flexible, whose synthetic fibers of polypropylene, polyester or a mixture of both are randomly joined together through mechanical, chemical or thermal processes.

Its mechanical and hydraulic properties vary according to the type of fiber used, its manufacturing method and the surface treatment to which it may be subjected.

These can influence the force a geotextile can withstand before fracturing, the force it can withstand before an opening is punctured and propagated, and its ability to withstand a force in the event of a potential tear.

Regarding its hydraulic properties, the permeability of geotextile is the ability to allow water to flow through it.

These mechanical and hydraulic properties influence and determine the ability of a geotextile to perform correctly in a diverse range of areas such as:

Civil engineering: in the stabilization of slopes, drainage improvements (French drain) and filtration, in the construction of roads, railways and dams.:  en la estabilización de taludes, mejoras de drenaje (dren francés) y filtración, en la construcción de carreteras, ferrocarriles y presas.

  • Medio ambiente: son útiles en la restauración de hábitats, gestión de residuos, control de la erosión del suelo y sedimentación
  • Agriculture: they are used for soil stabilization, erosion control, to prevent weed growth and improve drainage (French drain).
  • Construction: they are useful in separating materials of different nature, reinforcing soils, protecting surfaces and cold waterproofing.
  • Resurfacing: they are useful to improve the performance, durability and useful life of the pavement by preventing the premature formation of potholes and cracks.

Thanks to the evolution of technology, geotextiles have positioned themselves as a valuable tool for engineers and builders.

At At Polytex® we are committed to innovation, which is why we constantly work on the development of new products and solutions to satisfy the needs of our customers. Our three business lines: non-woven fabrics, PP-R pipes and medical disposables are characterized by having raw materials in common, which makes us a leading company and expert in the handling, manufacturing and finished product of polypropylene.

“Building national products with experience” is one of our pillars and motivates us to continue entering new markets such as geotextiles.
