A non-woven geotextile is a flat, permeable, and flexible geosynthetic material. Its synthetic fibers—made of polypropylene, polyester, or a blend of both—are randomly oriented and bonded through mechanical, chemical, or thermal processes.
The mechanical and hydraulic properties of these geotextiles vary based on the fiber type, manufacturing methodology, and surface treatments applied.
These factors directly influence the fabric’s tensile strength prior to failure, its puncture resistance against opening propagation, and its tear resistance under stress.
Regarding hydraulic performance, permittivity and permeability define the geotextile’s capacity to allow efficient fluid flow through its structure.

These mechanical and hydraulic properties determine the geotextile’s capability to perform reliably across a diverse range of sectors:
Civil Engineering: Used in slope stabilization, subgrade improvement, drainage and filtration systems (e.g., French drains), as well as in the construction of highways, railways, and dams.
- Environmental Engineering: Critical for habitat restoration, waste management, soil erosion control, and sedimentation management.
- Agriculture: Applied in soil stabilization, erosion control, weed suppression, and agricultural drainage optimization (French drains).
- Construction: Highly effective for separating dissimilar subgrade materials, soil reinforcement, surface protection, and cold-applied waterproofing systems.
- Asphalt Overlays & Repaving: Utilized to enhance pavement performance, durability, and lifespan by mitigating reflective cracking and preventing premature pothole formation.
Driven by technological advancements, geotextiles have become an invaluable asset for engineers and project developers worldwide.
At Polytex®, we are committed to innovation, continuously developing new products and solutions to meet evolving market demands. Our three core business divisions—non-woven fabrics, PP-R piping systems, and disposable medical supplies—share a unified raw material foundation.
“Building domestic products with experience” is one of our core pillars and motivates us to continue venturing into new markets such as geotextiles.
